1. How can you tell if the stainless steel is real?
There are two way to test the quality of stainless steel.
- Stick a magnet to the surface of the metal, if it sticks, then it is possibly ferromagnetic steel. If it doesn’t then its high quality austenite stainless steel grade of 304 or 316, both are non-magnetic.
- Pick a hidden spot on the stainless steel product, and with an eye-dropper, drop muriatic acid on the spot. After half an hour, if its colour changes, then you have the real deal.
2. What is the highest quality stainless steel?
Grade 304 is the most-ordered grade of stainless steel globally, known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, durability and food-grade safe properties (safe to cook and consume). Grade 316 is another grade that offers even superior corrosion resistance, especially where chlorinated solutions are concerned.
